Probing virtual axion-like particles by precision phase measurements

Abstract We propose an experiment for detecting Axion-Like Particles (ALPs) based on the axion-photon interaction in presence of a non-uniform magnetic field. The impact virtual ALPs polarization photons inside cavity is studied and detection scheme proposed. find that normal modes are dispersed differently owing to their coupling background This birefringence, turn, can be observed as phase difference between modes. signal considerably enhanced squeezed light source. argue amplified allows exclusion range axion mass 6 × 10 -4 eV ≲ m -3 even at very small constant with potential reach sensitivity QCD axion. Our masses has not yet been covered by other experimental techniques.
